About Darius Grant
Darius Grant is a 27 year old energetic adult born in Kisumu Kenya and grew up in the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. I have been in love with cooking for as long as I could remember. It was a passion that I was determined to see through to its end. But for a while, I could not manage to get into any programs that would lead me to that career path. Just like many people in my generation, I had a hard time figuring what I wanted to do with my life. Simon Sinek said it best when he said ‘my generation is impatient’. I got into many things that were bound to give me easy money only for them to fail at the end of the day and I fell into a state of depression. It has taken me a lot of years of trials and error, ups and downs but I am grateful that I am finally getting a way forward. I have a Certificate in Project Planning and management , a Diploma in Public Relations from Nairobi University and am currently pursuing a Degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management in USIU. I am an avid believer of a Mentally free society that is not shackled by social norms.
I have always loved writing for its therapeutic calming and nature. I have written my first book ‘The Coming of Otungwi’ under the tutelage of Prof. Martin Njoroge a linguistics expert and the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences in USIU. For a long time the African stories have been written by outsiders and it is time we push and celebrate African Literature as they are preserver our culture.
On my free time when I am not studying or writing, I mentor young children and teens as well as traveling and indulging a bit in photography.
